Traditional festive gifts & toys

For me Christmas is about traditions, family and food. I am picky about decorations and gifts and this year in particular feel it is important to support local businesses such as ours. Bideford has a great selection of independent retailers and only by supporting them will customers continue to have the diversity of small business to choose from. Here are a selection of traditional gifts and decorations that will make my list this year.

Our Festive Friends

Anyone that has been into our shop knows that it is full of sparkle and light with has a beautiful mix of shabby chic and elegance, yes blow that trumpet! Christmas is no exception and we will be showcasing gift ideas throughout the month on the blog. For now I feel a little light-hearted festive fun in the form of the adorable creatures that have taken over residence for the holidays.

This Gnome advent calender by Maileg is a lovely friend as well as a calender to bring out each year, my daughter has one and gets excited when it comes out.

This friendly little reindeer is one of my favourites this year and will definitely be adorning my mantle with some other festive friends.

These felt robins come in all sizes and several colours, they were a huge hit last year and sold out very quickly so don't miss out! We have them online in our Christmas Shop as well as in store.
We will be featuring gift guides in the coming weeks so keep us book marked for some great ideas!

The British Institution

Otherwise known as "a good cuppa" is something that becomes more comforting as the weather gets colder. I don't know about you but I reach for the kettle much more often when it is cold and rainy outside. I also have a real love of china and the ritual of making a proper pot of tea in a china tea pot. It is a ritual passed down from my Gran and one that I have resurrected in recent months now that I have all my china at home with me. One of the things I noticed when photographing in the shop recently was the gorgeous range of china that we have dotted about the place. If you have ever been in the shop you will know that it is a haven of little corners filled with all manner of beautiful items. Today's blog post is celebrating that most British of Institutions, afternoon tea!
We have beautiful china tea pots, lovely chunky mugs as well as the more delicate bone china of the Sophie Allport range. If that is not enough we also have adorable tea tidy's to add the the afternoon tea table.
The other thing that goes well with afternoon tea is a piece of cake or several! With our selection of cake stands you can make afternoon a tea a real daily treat.

Why not have a look at the range of crockery and tableware on the website and start a new winter ritual.Link
